Robert Hines Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory - Greenville on Mar. 14, 2026.
Mr. Robert Pittman "Bob" Hines, Jr., 70, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at ECU Health Center.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for June 2026 and will be announced.

A native of Pitt County, Bob was born March 26, 1955, to the late Louise White Hines and Robert Pittman Hines. He was a graduate of D.H. Conley High School and attended Pitt Community College. Bob worked for many years as a computer technician for several companies, where he was known for his reliability, steady presence, and quiet wisdom.

Outside of his work, Bob's greatest passion was music. A gifted musician, he played lead guitar and a talented singer who loved praise and worship music.

Bob shared a deep and abiding faith with his wife, Lunette. Together they worked and served in several churches over the years in Greenville, North Carolina; Eagleville and McKenzie Tennessee; and San Antonio, Texas. Their shared ministry and love for the church were central to the life they built together.

Bob was a quiet and steady man whose life spoke through his faith, kindness, and dependability. He was a calm presence through life's storms and someone his family could always count on. He loved to travel and treasured the time he spent with those closest to him.

His grandchildren lovingly called him "GrandBob," and they adored him. He delighted in their lives and was deeply loved by each of them. Bob and Lunette had this saying to one another: "I love you… Bunches and Bunches".

Bob lived his life faithfully, and in his final days he spoke with peace about going home. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord. He served throughout his life whole, free of pain, and surrounded by friends and loved ones who have gone before him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lunette Coburn Hines; his son, Robbie Bridges and wife, Annie, of San Antonio, TX; his daughter, Kimberly B. Merenda and husband, Ryan, of Wilmington, NC;his sister, Debby Gray and husband, Bruce;

his brother, Erwin Hines and wife, Rie; and his beloved grandchildren, Josiah Bridges, Levi Bridges, Grace Bridges, Luna Merenda, and Jude Merenda.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
