Deloris Ann Brown, a woman whose life was marked by hard work, devotion, and deep love for her family, was born on July 31, 1956, in Greenville, North Carolina, to the late Geraldine Dawson and Isaac Hazelton, Sr.

She was a proud graduate of D.H. Conley High School, Class of 1975. During her early years, Deloris Ann and her family lived throughout various communities in Pitt County, where she formed many lifelong friendships and created lasting memories that she cherished throughout her life.

Deloris Ann was known by all who loved her as a woman who believed in the value of hard work. She worked diligently throughout her entire life, setting an example of perseverance and dedication for her siblings and those around her. Her strong work ethic became a defining part of her legacy. She served as the Housekeeping Supervisor at the Cricket Inn Hotel. She later worked at Greenfield Place Assisted Living, where she faithfully worked for more than 30 years. Deloris Ann retired from Greenfield Place Assisted Living in December 2025 after many years of faithful and dedicated service. Throughout her time there, she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and the care she showed to both residents and coworkers. She took great pride in her work and approached each day with the same commitment and determination that had defined her entire life. Her retirement marked the closing of a long chapter of service in which she gave her time, energy, and compassion to supporting others.

In December 1993, Deloris Ann married the love of her life, Julious Brown. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and many cherished memories together. They built a life grounded in companionship and shared dreams until his passing in 2019.

Following the loss of her husband, Deloris Ann found comfort and joy in the home of Isaac and Monica, whom she lovingly referred to as "my children." There, she continued to share her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love, strengthening the bond they shared as family.

Deloris Ann enjoyed the simple joys of life. She loved reading the Word, cooking her famously delicious collard greens and potato salad, and spending hours on the phone catching up with family and friends. She also cherished traveling to visit loved ones in Virginia, Maryland, and New York. Music brought her joy, especially the sounds of the 1970s, which she loved to watch and move to whenever she could.

Above all else, Deloris Ann loved her family. Her life was a testament to strength, faith, sacrifice, and unconditional love. She was a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, and a steady source of support for those who knew her.

Celebrating her life and cherishing her memory are her brother, Isaac Hazelton, Jr. (Monica) along with a host of loving family members and dear friends both near and far.

The "dash" between Deloris' date of birth and the day she was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus will be honored on Monday, March 16, 2026, 1:00 p.m. at Joe's Branch FWB Church. Address: 9432 NC-43, Vanceboro, NC 28586 with Bishop Levi Murray of Jobes Chapel Church, Swan Quarter, NC, officiating. Burial will follow in Mills Family Cemetery in Winterville, NC. Viewing will be held one hour before the service at the church.
