James Joseph Porter SR.

James J. Porter, Sr., 77, of Barefoot Bay, FL, formerly of Easton, MA, passed away on January 27, 2025, after a brief illness.
James, better known to all as Jim, was born on July 22, 1947, in Brockton, MA to Donald and Geraldine (Marchand) Porter, the 3rd of 7 children.
He grew up in Easton graduating in 1965 from Oliver Ames High School before going into the U.S. Army and serving his country in Vietnam with the 2nd of the 1st Calvary Regiment. Upon returning to civilian life, Jim entered the IBEW Local #223 union's electrical apprenticeship and worked as a union electrician for 40 years before retiring in 2007. Jim found his calling in retirement especially after moving to Barefoot Bay, FL where he could golf to his heart's content and enjoy happy hour and socializing with his large group friends.
Jim's greatest treasure was his family. From his early days surrounded by his 6 siblings to Friday night happy hours at his home in Easton, to mandatory family dinners with his wife and children, to golf outings with his brother, to cribbage games with his beloved grandchildren, to family vacations in Saint Maarten to spirited Christmas dinners, Jim spent as much time as possible with his loved ones.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Faith (Fitzmaurice), his children Jennifer Macaulay and her husband Mike of Easton, MA, and Jim Jr and his wife Cathy of Freetown, MA, his grandchildren James III, Emily and Michael of Freetown, MA, and his brothers Donald Jr. and his wife Carol of Duxbury, MA, John and his wife Shelley of Leawood, KS, Jeffrey and his wife Collette Carson of Pelham, NH and Jack of Newark, DE and a number of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Donald and Gerldine, his sister Judy Moniz and his sister Janet Theroux.
A memorial service will be held sometime later this year in Easton, MA with an interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
