James "Jimmy" Portillo

James Luis Portillo, born on June 14, 1980, tragically left us on November 14, 2025. He was a vibrant soul whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. James was a beloved husband to Lisa Marie Portillo, a devoted son to Maria Louisa Gonzalez, and a proud father to Romelo Julius Portillo. His role as a grandfather to Ailani Portillo brought him immeasurable joy and he was excited about his grandson that was on the way, he cherished the time spent with his family, which included his brothers, Michael Angelo Portillo and Michael Anthony Perez, and his sisters, Michelle (Miguel) Uribe and Emily Perez. James found companionship in his two beloved dogs, Debo and Felicia, who were a constant source of comfort and joy in his life. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Anthony Portillo and his son, baby Raven Portillo.

Known for his direct and matter-of-fact personality, James never hesitated to speak his mind. He embraced life with enthusiasm, especially enjoying gatherings where he would proudly barbecue with family and friends. In his downtime, playing video games provided him the opportunity to unwind and connect with those he loved. He especially enjoyed planning trips and get togethers to create new memories with his family. Keeping traditions and family gatherings was important to him.

James was passionate about making a difference in his community. He ran a football organization called the Southeast Ravens, which dedicated itself to helping underprivileged kids. This commitment to mentorship earned him the affection of many who considered him a father figure, often calling him "Grandpa" and "Coach." His impact on the lives of those he touched through this organization exemplified his kind heart and generous spirit.

James's life will be celebrated with a visitation held at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. With a Catholic Service beginning at 2:00 PM.

His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives he enriched. James Luis Portillo will be remembered not only for his unwavering love for his family but also for his dedication to creating a better future for the younger generations.
