James L. Posateri, 71, of Milan, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
A gathering to celebrate Jim’s life will be announced in the near future. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to Rock Island Conservation Club.
James Lyle Posateri was born November 9, 1954, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of August and Sylvia (Welch) Posateri. He married the love of his life, Cheryl Rentfro, on November 16, 1974, in Rock Island. The couple shared nearly 51 years of devoted marriage, centered around their greatest joy—their three children, Jamie, Nick, and Dan.
Jim was a hard worker, spending several decades in the construction industry, most of that time with Valley Construction. He was a member of Laborers Local 309 and Ducks Unlimited. He loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or boating. Above all else, Jim cherished his family, and nothing made him happier than time spent with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; three children, Jamie (Michael) Nelson of Colona, Illinois, Nick (Rachel) Posateri of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and Dan (Brooke) Posateri of Albany, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Grant Nelson, Skylynn and Bentley Posateri, Giana and Isaac Floming, and Isabella, Lauren and Halle Posateri; a sister, Michol “Mick” (Bryan) Van DeWostine of Lynn Center, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, LuAnne Ladenburg and Michael Posateri.
