It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Martin Potter Jr., a devoted husband, proud father, and lifelong mechanic, who passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on January 16, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and deep love for his family and friends. He shared 45 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cherie Ann Potter, building a strong, enduring partnership that served as the foundation for their family.

He is survived by his wife and his five daughters: Rachel (Scott) Sneed, Christina (Adam) Jeranek, Michelle (Ryan) Roth, Elizabeth (Matt) Gibson, and Hannah Potter. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Logan, Jane, Lily, Bridgette, Christopher, Remington, Kimberley, and Charleigh. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Emma. He is also survived by his siblings, Diana Sharp, Deborah (John) Kihm, Kenneth Potter, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim had a passion for restoring antique Ford cars and trucks-a pastime that became both his hobby and his art. He found joy in the details, in the challenge, and in bringing old things back to life.

His quiet strength, sense of humor, work skills, and respect for everyone who knew him defined a life well-lived. Whether under the hood of a Model A or walking with family in nature parks or the Smoky Mountains, Jim always found joy in life's simple pleasures.

A celebration of James Martin Potter Jr.'s life will be held on Saturday, August 9, at Strawser Funeral Home, 9503 Kenwood Rd, Blue Ash, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and services to follow.
