James Larabee Powell, aged 76, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born in Pensacola, FL, on March 3, 1949, to James Carroll Powell and Margaret Ruth Parker. James, a Vietnam Veteran, served his country with the United States Army from 1968 – 1971.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Carroll and Margaret Ruth Powell; his brother, Wayne Powell; and sister, Mary Ruth Powell.
He is survived by Teresa Sedlak, mother of his four children; his sons, John Matherne, David Powell (Tanya), and Jesse Powell (Kandace); daughter, Carol Harris (Ben); grandchildren: Blake, Steven, Rebecca, Brook, and Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Leo and Noah.
There will be a graveside service to honor James at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL, at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
