McDonald Council, Elmhurst; 30 year member Elmhurst American Legion, Post #187; Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Alice, nee Shields for over 45 years and the late Charlotte M. Rakos for over 21 years; devoted father of Patricia E. (Barry) Scanlon, James A. (June) Powers, Paul J. Powers, John J. (Therese) Powers and the late Thomas E. Powers; cherished grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 8. Visitation Thursday, June 13, 2024, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, June 14, 2024, 8:00 a.m. until time of prayers 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile north of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. Live Stream of funeral Mass available through funeral home website.
