James Prutton Obituary

James Arthur "Jim" Prutton of Bridgepoint on Lake Conroe, Willis, Texas, age 84, left us to go fishing with the Creator on February 12, 2024. He leaves behind Jane (nee Durden), his wife of 60 years; daughter, Tiffany Chapin (Wes); three grandchildren, Gabrielle Peralez (Rey), Talissa, and Westen); daughter, Heather Prutton; former son-in-law, Ron Palm; sister, Dorothy (Gray); and sister, Nancy (Hegele).

Jim was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 26, 1939, son of Lester Prutton and Kathryn Prutton (nee Welty) and grew up in Bay Village, Ohio. Educated at Case Western Reserve, Jim became a professional chemical engineer, working in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Texas, and many locations across the world, often helping to establish production plants and facilities.

Jim will be remembered for his storytelling skills, love for all things fishing, his gentle and loving nature, and his devotion to his wife, Jane. They were married in Parkersburg, W. Va., in 1963, and enjoyed exploring the United States and other countries together.

He also loved being at the family cabin in Ontario, Canada, boating and hiking up Rock Candy Mountain, particularly with his dog Rusty.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Prutton; brother-in-law, Carl Gray; and brother-in-law, Bud Hegele.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Texas at 2:00 on Saturday, March 16. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's name may be made at: The Assistance League of Montgomery County, 126 San Jacinto Street, Conroe, Texas 77301, or to the United Methodist Church, 22548 Highway 105W, Montgomery, Texas 77356.
