PIQUA -- James W. Putterbaugh, 84 of Piqua passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his residence. He was born February 17, 1938 in Troy to the late John and Florence (Wilson) Putterbaugh. He married Marilyn J. (McGarvey) Putterbaugh July 7, 1981, she preceded him in death January 28, 2015.
Survivors include three step-children, Elizabeth (David) Townsend of West Palm Beach, Florida, Kim Hampshire of Piqua, and William "Bill" (Stacy) Hampshire of New Carlisle; a sister, Debbie (William) Nowland of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Philip Putterbaugh.
Jim attended Troy High School and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He worked as a Tow Motor Driver for the former Aerovent Company, and then retired from the Comfort Inn as a maintenance worker. Jim also volunteered his time at Upper Valley Medical Center. Jim loved his family and made it a point to attend his children and grandchildren's activities when he was able to.
A service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Dayton, 2555 S. Dixie Dr. Unit 112, Dayton OH 45409.
