James Edwin Ragain Jr., 94, of
Springfield, MO passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was born on Monday, December 8, 1930 in Marionville, MO to Cora Ethel Ayers and James Edwin Ragain Sr.
Jim and Barbara "Bobbie" Alice Adams were united in marriage on June 17, 1950 in the home of their pastor, Rev. Balliet and to this union four son's were born. Together, they shared 75 beautiful years of marriage, filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion. He was a lover of all sports and a car aficionado. Jim's passion for speed began early, spending countless hours at the dirt track on the north side of
Springfield, Missouri. His love for racing and fast cars never faded. He could often be found in his garage, joyfully tinkering with his cherished Volkswagen Beetles. Known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, Jim had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. He dedicated 36 years of service to the City Utilities transportation department, where his work ethic and commitment left a lasting impact. Upon retirement, Jim and Bobbie embraced their golden years with enthusiasm, traveling the world and fulfilling their bucket list dreams. Jim was a member of the Lions Club and the Secretary of AFL/CIO. He also served as the Decon of Central AOG, Oak Grove AOG and the Cradle Roll at Central AOG. A man of deep faith, Jim was a longtime member of Central Assembly of God, where he and Bobbie worshipped for many decades. His favorite scripture, 2 Timothy 1:7, reflected his spirit: "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, two grandsons Gabriel Ragain and Sean Thomas Ragain, one brother Cora Fay Green and two sisters Mary Francis Mace and Gerald Ragain.
He is survived by the love of his life, four sons Mike (wife Linda), Gary Lee (wife Paula), Ed (wife Marguritte) and John D. (wife Theressa), 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE,
Springfield, MO 65802. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Central Assembly of God, 1301 N. Boonville Ave.,

Jim's life was a testament to joy, faith, and family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
