James T Riceman

James "Jim" Thomas Riceman, age 87, passed away at his home in Runnemede, New Jersey on February 27, 2026.

Jim was born on February 24, 1939 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy at 48th and Spruce where his father, Earl F. Riceman, D.O., was a physician. He grew up in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia at 252 Rittenhouse Street and 5328 Greene Street. He attended St. Vincent Elementary School, La Salle College High School, and St. Joseph University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Early in his career, he was certified as a Technologist in Chemistry by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Jim was a member of the La Salle track team and the St. Joseph University soccer team; he received an award for a record number of assists. He was a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan; in his later years, he enjoyed watching tennis matches. Jim was a toxicologist at SmithKline Beecham until his retirement in 2001. He was a loving husband and a devoted father. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind, gentle, humble and intelligent man.

Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Inggrit Riceman, his son Thomas Riceman, his sister Elizabeth R. Blume, his brother John P. Riceman and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Elizabeth (nee Gara) Riceman, his sister Roberta J. Downs and his brother Earl F. Riceman, Jr.

There will be a viewing from 9am to10am on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 402 Kings Hwy N, Cherry Hill Township, NJ. Funeral Mass at 10am. Interment to follow at Locustwood Memorial Park, 1500 Marlton Pike, Route 70 West, Cherry Hill, NJ.
