Joseph White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gardner Funeral Home, Runnemede on Mar. 2, 2026.
Joseph A. White III, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, leaving behind many friends and family who he loved.

Joe was born in Camden, NJ, grew up in Gloucester City, then later resided in Mt. Ephraim and finally in Bellmawr. He graduated from Gloucester High School and proudly served his country he loved in the US National Guard. Joe was a member of the Drywall Finishers Union Local #21 Philadelphia until he retired. After retirement, Joe worked on Home Remodeling and woodworking projects.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Freda (Duffield) White and Joseph A. White Sr. Survived by sisters Patricia Garret (Richard) of Waycross, GA, Gerry Rettew (deceased) and Bart Rettew of Sewell, NJ, and Dorothy White-Geesey and William Geesey of Sewell, NJ along with many nieces and nephews, and longtime close friends Joey, Taylor (his favorite nurse), Shelly & Toby.

Joe was a member of the Mt. Ephraim United Fire Company #1. He was a dedicated Penn State Football fan, Philadelphia Phillies & Eagles fan. Joe enjoyed golfing, shooting pool with his friends and watching sports with his buddies. Joe always wanted to help his friends as they always held a special place in his heart.

Joe was a long-time bartender at the Original Spread Eagle Inn in Mt. Ephraim and the Crescent Park VFW #9563 in Bellmawr. He acquired many lifetime friends that he cherished over the years. Joe enjoyed spending time with his good friends at the Bellmawr Fire Department until his illness. Joe was known to them as "JOEWHITE" or "JW" and everyone would hear Joe's catch phrase, "one and done"!

There will be a memorial service for Joe on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10 am to 12 noon at Gardner Funeral Home, Runnemede, NJ. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Animal Welfare Association, Voorhees, NJ - https://www.awanj.org/donate/ or Samaritan Hospice, 3906 Church Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 - http://samaritanNJ.org
