James Riddle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hahn Funeral Home on Dec. 11, 2025.
James "Jim" Robert Riddle, 90, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away with his family by his side on December 7, 2025. Jim was born on April 7, 1935, in South Bend to Forrest and Violet (Harris) Riddle. Jim lived a life defined by dedication, service, and love for his family.

Jim had a distinguished career of public service, first proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Following his military duty, he embarked on a respected career in law enforcement, working as a police officer for the Mishawaka City Police Department from 1966 until his retirement in 1990. During his time on the force, he rose to a leadership position, serving as the Assistant Chief.

On March 1, 1958, Jim married Linda (Heitger) Riddle. Together they built a strong and loving family, sharing 67 years of marriage.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Riddle, and their children: Rob (Erika) Riddle; Kim (David) DelRegno; and Lisa (Mike) Bujtas. He was a proud grandfather to: Jamie (Scott) Wesolowski, Matthew (Morgan) Riddle, Gwen (Brandon) Nothnagel, Shauna (Chris) Andrews, Shelby (Manny) Requeno, Michael Kelly, and Josh (Emily) Kelly.

Jim was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought him tremendous joy: Chris, Maddox, Jayden, Donny, Maxwell, Lincoln, Eilan, Landon, and Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Geraldine Mammon, Betty Key, Ralph Riddle, and Richard Riddle.

Jim had a lifelong love for sports, especially golf, and he cherished his time working the last 20 years at Eberhart Golf Course, where he formed many lasting friendships and enjoyed countless rounds on the course.

Jim will be remembered for his infectious laugh, the jokes he told, his famous "Grandpa spaghetti" and many trips he took with his family.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 18 from 2 to 6 PM in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with funeral service to follow at 6 PM in the funeral home.
