James E. "Jimmy" Rimlinger

Mr. James "Jimmy" Rimlinger, 68, of Moreland, GA, passed away Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family in his home. He was born on July 9th, 1957, at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, GA, to the late James H. Rimlinger and Vermel Deleshaw Rimlinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Noah James Rimlinger, sister, Sheila Jo Hornsby Shumate, brother, David Hornsby, and sister, Thea Rimlinger.
Jimmy's early childhood years were spent in Germany, and then his remaining youth in College Park, GA. He graduated in 1975 from College Park High School. He was heavily involved in high school sports and was an accomplished athlete. After graduating early with honors, he gained much experience pushing barges on the Cumberland River in Nashville, TN. He then worked for Hanger One at Atlanta airport. That led him into air freight, finishing his career at FedEx Freight with 28 years.
After many years of exposure to his brothers' band, he had the privilege of helping them as a "roadie" as they traveled to their performances. From that love and passion of music he worked on learning to play guitar which he shared with his 12 grandchildren. He was devoted and supportive of his many grandchildren and their activities and enjoyed traveling to various places across America with his wife, Denise.
The funeral is Monday, October 27th, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Moreland First Baptist Church, 2930 S. Highway 29, Moreland, GA, with Pastor Todd Slade officiating. Jimmy will lie in state from 12:00-1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. The visitation is Sunday evening, October 26th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan. Condolences can be expressed online at www.mckoon.com.
