James Leslie Roberts
James Leslie Roberts, affectionately known as "JR" to his friends, colleagues, and family, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on March 13, 1955, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, JR was a man known for his incredible generosity, always willing to give his last dollar to someone in need.
JR proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following his distinguished military service, he applied his skills professionally as a Seal Mil, a Whiting Field Supervisor, and a dedicated aircraft mechanic, contributing significantly to his field.
Outside of his work, JR cherished his time in his "man cave," where he would immerse himself in old rock music, possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of every band member's name. He especially enjoyed connecting with his neighbors, finding joy in casual chats and community. A true family man, JR's unwavering devotion to his wife was evident in every aspect of his life; he consistently put her first, ensuring her financial and emotional well-being. He also fiercely loved and protected his stepchildren and grandchildren, finding immense happiness in being a part of their lives and belonging to their family.
JR was preceded in death by his father, Junior Roberts, who passed away on September 10, 2013, and his mother, Margaret Weisn Roberts, who passed away on November 26, 2022.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly Jo Lashomb-Gatto; his sons, Michael Paul Roberts and Joseph William Roberts; his stepchildren, Nicole Carter and Corey Lashomb; and his cherished grandchildren, Mary Roberts, Nathan Roberts, Leanne Roberts, Adelyn Roberts, Hunter Lowe, Kaelyn Lowe, Olivia Carter, and Madleyn Lashomb. JR is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Roberts; and his brother, William Roberts; along with his nephews, John Ryan McCarver and Arthur Lewis McCarver; and niece, Margaret Stinson. He will also be deeply missed by his brother-in-law, Robert Martin; and sisters-in-law, Kim Martin and Cathy Clary; as well as his long-time friends, Tom Hayden and Tim Small, who will miss him dearly.
Celebration of Life A Navarre, Celebration of Life for JR will be held on Friday, August 23, 2025, at The Legion in FL 32566. Friends and family are invited to gather for an afternoon of food, music, and lots of laughs as we honor JR's vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to so many.
