Mae Evelyn McKay, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026 of natural causes.

Born on September 21, 1936, Mae lived a life marked by grace, faith, and devotion to her family and community. In her early years, she worked as a model for Ivey's Department Store, reflecting the elegance and poise that remained with her throughout her life. She later built a successful career as a real estate agent, where her warmth and integrity earned her the trust and friendship of many clients.

Mae was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Bob McKay, with whom she shared over 70 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love and commitment were a testament to faithfulness and partnership.

She is survived by her sons, Donald McKay of Justin, Texas, and Scott McKay of Acworth, Georgia; and her daughters-in-law, Carol McKay and Tina McKay; her grandchildren, Robert McKay, III, Amelie Mae McKay, Megan Marie McKay, and William Scott McKay, Jr. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Lily Robin McKay and James Patrick McKay. She was deeply cherished by her family and took great joy in each generation.

A prolific prayer warrior and longtime member of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church in Milton, Florida, Mae's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She cooked dinner for the church's Berean Men's Ministry and was the founder of the church's Widows Ministry, which faithfully providing Valentine's Day flowers and treats to widows for many years. Her compassion and dedication created a lasting legacy, and this ministry continues to this day as a reflection of her servant's heart.

Mae will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, gentle strength, and for her fierce love for her family. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Hickory Hammock Baptist Church, 8351 Hickory Hammock Road, Milton, Florida 32583 with visitation from 11:00-12:00pm and service at 12:00pm, with Pastor Carl Gallups officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Lewis Williams Cemetery.
