James William Rohrbach, 77, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Michigan Veterans Home in Chesterfield.

Born on January 3, 1948, in Monroe, Michigan, Jim was the son of Jacob and Edith (Brose) Rohrbach, Jr. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1966 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1967 to 1969, including service in Vietnam. Jim was a member of the American Legion, Post 514, in Ida, Michigan, where he proudly participated in the Ritual Team and Honor Guard.

A carpenter by trade, Jim was a longtime member of Carpenters Local 1301 in Detroit and contributed to many significant projects, including the Renaissance Center and the Fermi Power Plant. He later owned his own construction business and was known for his craftsmanship, building everything from homes to the gazebo at the Dundee Senior Citizens Center. He also served as a Cub Scout leader.

Jim was married to Marilynn (King) Rohrbach for 20 years, and together they raised three children who survive him: Greg (Patly) Rohrbach of San Francisco, California; Shannon (Joo Serk) Lee of Chicago, Illinois; and Jacob (Soula) Rohrbach of Long Island, New York. He was the proud grandfather of Tiger, Tobey, and Zoe Lee of Chicago, and Chase and Addie Rohrbach of Long Island.

Also surviving are his sisters Judy Ferry of Dundee, Bonnie (Glen) Satterfield of Temperance, and Linda Bakara of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, LouAnn (Howard) Quillin; and brothers-in-law Cal Ferry, Frank Bakara, and Howard Quillin.

Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, carpentry, and playing Euchre, pool, and Bingo. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

After Jim's passing, his fellow veterans at the Michigan Veterans Home paid tribute with a ceremonial Honor Walk. As Taps played, they saluted him one final time, and his family was presented with the American flag in his memory. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at the Michigan Veterans Home in Chesterfield for their loving care and support. No services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, Michigan.
