James Edward Ruxer, affectionately known as Jim, was born on April 8, 1961, in Jasper, Indiana. He departed this life on February 9, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, dedication, and love.

Jim earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting at Indiana State University, a milestone that also marked the beginning of his lifelong partnership with his beloved wife, Lisa (Coleman) Ruxer. He achieved great distinction in his professional career, becoming a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Indiana CPA Society. Additionally, he held the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation and served as a partner at the esteemed public accounting firm Koehler, Ruxer, Walker & Co., LLC for thirty remarkable years. His commitment to his work was evident as he passionately served his clients, helping them navigate financial challenges and building a successful business alongside his partner, Jim Walker.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was a devoted family man who cherished the connections he made with his loved ones. He was a supportive father, devoted to attending his children’s events and organizing family trips that created lasting memories. Jim was proud to travel across the country for Jared’s baseball and Addie’s volleyball games, always encouraging their pursuits with enthusiasm. A passionate racing fan, he attended every Indy 500, reveling in the thrills of motorsports, and enjoyed playing tennis at the Indianapolis Racquet Club, where he participated in USTA teams. He found joy in being on the water and watching sunsets, reflecting his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

In his personal characteristics, Jim demonstrated resilience and a persistent spirit throughout his life, especially during his courageous battle with cancer. He faced this formidable challenge with unwavering determination, undergoing 14 rounds of chemotherapy, 5 rounds of radiation, and participating in a clinical trial, always maintaining hope and a fighting spirit.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Ruxer; his children, Addie Holzer (Brian Holzer) and Jared Ruxer (Samantha Ruxer); and his siblings, Jay Ruxer (Suzanne Ruxer), Jill Ruxer, and Jeff Ruxer (Amy Ruxer). He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Ruxer and Rosemarye Ruxer.

Jim's memory will be cherished by his family and friends, who will remember him for his good sense of humor, hardworking demeanor, and the deep love he exhibited towards those around him. As we celebrate his life, we honor a man whose legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
