SAYRE SAYRE L. JAMES, SR., passed away peacefully at home, comforted by his loving wife on June 3rd, 2012, at the age of 75. He was born September 2nd, 1936 in Norristown, PA., the only son of Florence and Gloe Sayre. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia M. McAvoy, mother Florence Sayre, sister Leona Martin (Henry Martin), his two children, James R. Sayre, Jr. (Amy Sayre) and Jennifer L. Sayre, and his 6 grandchildren. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1958 with a degree in mechanical engineering and presided as President of G.L. Sayre, Inc. up until his passing. He was a devoted and loving father, husband, grandfather, son, brother and community leader. He highly valued his community and was actively involved in the Norristown Area School District as President and Board Member of BISPP (Business Industry School Partnership Program) and Member of the District Policy Committee. He also served as a Board Member of the Mercy Suburban Hospital, President of The Montgomery County Development Corporation, President of the Norristown Rotary, Board Member of the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, President of the South Eastern PA. Chapter of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, Member of the Board of Directors of Plymouth Country Club and Member of the Navistar International Dealer Council. He enjoyed family, golf, Corvettes and will be dearly missed. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, June 6th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and on Thursday, June 7th from 8:00am to 10:00am at the Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home, 200 West Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA. Chapel Services will be held on June 7th at 11:00am at the Washington Memorial Chapel, Rte 23, Valley Forge National Historical Park, Valley Forge, PA. with burial to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mercy Suburban Cancer Center, Attention Carol Forte Street, 2701 DeKalb Pike, East Norriton, PA. 19401
