James Kenneth Scamahorn, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather, passed peacefully in his home in Aldie, Virginia on December 23, 2025, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. James was born on February 4, 1940, in Rockport, Indiana. He was the youngest sibling with three sisters. The Vietnam War was a testament to his bravery and commitment to serving his country. After his military service, he pursued a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Miami, a step that would set the stage for a successful career in the wholesale and retail tire business across Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. His professional journey was marked by a relentless work ethic and integrity, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. An ardent supporter of the Miami Hurricanes, James found great pleasure watching them play football, basketball, and baseball, in addition to the Washington Nationals.

James had a profound love for his family, a bond he nurtured with warmth and tenderness. His wife of over 60 years, Carol, daughter, Capi Klein, and son-in-law, John Klein, were central to his world, with their lives bringing him immense joy. As a grandfather, he wholeheartedly embraced his role as "Baba," delighting in the lives of his granddaughters, Jacey and Emme Jo. He introduced them to his favorites of horseback riding, golf, and tennis. Laughter echoed through their gatherings, and he enthusiastically welcomed his grandson-in-law, Chris Riley, into the family. The arrival of his great granddaughter, Audrey Klein Riley, further amplified the joy in his life, adding a delightful new chapter to the family saga. James also thoroughly enjoyed celebrations, reunions, and holidays with his extended family in Indiana, Florida, and Ohio.

James's personality shone bright—kind and giving, he had a knack for making those around him feel cherished and secure. He was known for his great, dry sense of humor, which often turned ordinary moments into lasting memories. His unique ability to find levity in life endeared him to many, fostering connections that went beyond mere acquaintance.

At the heart of James's legacy was his belief in the promises of Jesus's love. James embraced family gatherings and filled them with warmth and joy. His spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he leaves behind, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, humor, and the unbreakable bonds of family. As we reflect on his remarkable journey, let us carry forward the lessons he imparted—celebrating life, cherishing our loved ones, and always finding a reason to smile.
