James Scherer, born on February 13, 1978, passed away on January 25, 2026. He attended St. Croix Central High School and was known for his passion for mechanics and his knack for fixing even the most challenging problems. A dedicated mechanic, James spent his life working with cars and small engines, often helping others by restoring items that many deemed unfixable.
In addition to his mechanical talents, James had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, which he expressed through his love of wildlife photography. His creativity extended to his gardening endeavors, where he nurtured plants with the same care he gave to fixing engines. Most recently, he was excitedly learning how to build electric motorcycles, showcasing his innovative nature and desire to embrace new challenges.
James is survived by his father, Richard Scherer; siblings Richard, Laura, Annette and Joe; as well as many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his mom Marcella Scherer.
Burial will be held in the spring at Houlton Cemetery.
