James Joseph Schmidt Jr.

James Joseph Schmidt, Jr., of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday evening, January 25, 2026 at the Highland District Hospital. He was born June 28, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late James Joseph, Sr. and Juanita (Snyder) Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired after a long career as a skilled carpenter and contractor. He was also an avid fisherman. He is survived by four children, Jason (Nancy) Schmidt, Joshua Holland, Zandra (Harry) Stiffler, and Marty (Sabrina) Eaton; his long-time life partner Wanda Holland; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six nieces; six nephews; as well as many loved ones and friends. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Schmidt was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family.
