James Schulz Obituary
James (Jim) Eugene Schulz
Age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on November 18th, 2023. He was born April 24th, 1943, in Canton, Ohio to Harold and Janice Schulz.
Jim is a graduate of Lehman High School and Malone University. He was very proud to have served his country in the U.S Army. Following his military service, he worked for Spee-D-Foods for many years before becoming a co-owner of The Salad Bowl restaurant in downtown Canton. Jim spent retirement years volunteering to deliver meals for Meals On Wheels. He frequently took a grandchild along on the deliveries to share the experience and brighten the recipient's day with conversation.
His greatest pleasures in life were in the presence of family and his many friends. He loved "mystery dinners" with friends, family vacations, and watching his grandkids sporting events. A yearly highlight was celebrating the 4th of July around his pool where he shared joy, love, and laughter capped off with an unlawful display of fireworks that brought the neighborhood together.
Among countless admirable traits, he had a knack for remembering faces, conversing with anyone, and giving people goofy nicknames that will carry on for generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Janice Schulz, his beloved sister Susan Bailey and brother in laws, Bill Loichot and Sumner Stillwell.
Survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Armonde (Loichot). Also survived by his adoring children Lori (Mike) Pettit, Karen (Jeff) Wallick, and Greg (Caroline) Schulz. Grandchildren; Reece (Alex), Brian (Jordyn), Kennedy, Hayley, Maguire, Aiden, Bennet, Sean, Emily, and Callie; Sisters-in-law, Mary Stillwell, Sue (John) Butzberger, Liebe Schorsten and Brother-in-law, Glenn Bailey. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends whom he loved dearly.
In memory of Jim, love your family, love your friends, and love the place you call home. If Canton, Ohio is that place for you then know Jim shared that love with you.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life on Saturday December 9th at Chateau Michelle, 2231 44th St N.W Canton, Ohio 44709 from 1pm – 4pm. All friends are welcome to join us.
