James P. Schweigert

James Schweigert, 78, of East Greenbush, passed away Sunday, March 8th 2026, in St. Peter's Hospice.

Jim was born in Albany, NY the son of the late Francis Schweigert and Eleanor (DeWitt) Schweigert.

He was a proud Air Force veteran from the Vietnam War era where he was a sergeant and often was proud to escort his fallen soldiers back to their home state in their repatriation.

Jim was an HVAC technician for Carpinello and Long Heating before going to work at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where he worked for many years before retiring.

Jim was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and could often be seen riding from Stewarts to Stewarts buying scratch off lottery tickets or playing his numbers and also telling stories to his buddies or heading over to help someone out with a project.

In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by many close friends.

His survivors include his long-time companion, Maradean Hiller; her family; his loving dog, Poppy; his sister-in-law, Aleta Schweigert; his close brother, AlanSchweigert; his best friend, Billy Warburton; and his daily Stewarts coffee club, Jack and Dave.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
