James Walker Scudder, age 74, of Brooklyn passed away at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital on April 26, 2025. James' family and friends will gather from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel followed by a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. Joseph Shrine (8743 US-12) in Brooklyn. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Shrine in Brooklyn. Interment of James' ashes will be held at a later date at Norvell Cemetery.
James was born on May 6, 1950, in Paintsville Kentucky. He was raised by his loving mother Doshie Jean Joseph. James married his high school prom date, Catherine Anne Chantelois, on March 1, 1969, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Saline, Michigan. He was the oldest of 7 children and liked fishing, bowling, and golf. James enjoyed trucking around the United States and was proud to have visited 49 states. He also drove a school bus for a time and especially loved driving the students to games and concerts. In his free time, James would read the James Patterson books. He was an active member of St. Joseph Shrine in Brooklyn for 35 years where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher for 9 years. Family was important to James, and he loved taking his family on boat rides and spending time with his son and daughter, grandchildren, and great grandsons. James will be remembered as a loving family member and friend.
James will be missed by his spouse, Catherine Anne Chantelois; his children, Bradley (Jessica) Scudder and Annette Culbert; siblings, Mary (Gary) Crossett, Donna (Lonnie)Tremain, Robert (Connie) Joseph, and Kimberly Mills; grandchildren, Breanna Williams (LaGore), Patrick (Wyatt) Scudder, Kaylee Jean (Kamal) Smith, Amber Wren, and Caitlyn (Tyler) Kormos; great grandchildren, Parker Webb, Westin Webb, Michael Williams, and Evelyn Kormos; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Doshie Jean Joseph, Wade Bradley Scudder, and Donna Annette Walker; brother, Claude "Toby" Scudder; and sister, Dottie Sue Allenbaugh.
