Jimmy, first and foremost, was a family man. He dedicated his life to providing for his 2 sons and wife, Gail, who he loved unconditionally for almost 42 years of marriage. He had an unwavering work ethic proven by 41 years of service as a machinist beginning at Ayres corporation and serving the last 22 years at Thrush Aircraft. Jimmy was a man of true integrity. Whether on the job or lending a hand to a friend, he was respected for his reliability and genuine nature. Jimmy was a gentle but particular man. His gentleness provided a comfort to family and friends day after day, regardless of the situation. He was particular because there was always a right way and a wrong way to do things in life. He was an honest man but also insanely hilarious. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors. Most weekends you could find him working in the yard, camping, in a deer stand, or cruising the banks of Lake Blackshear with a full cricket box looking for a bream bed. His dedication to his family, friends, and values will be remembered by all who knew him. His gentleness was exemplified best when he became a granddad. He was better known as “Da” to his four beautiful grandchildren.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Marvin (Buddy) Sheffield and Mother, Mary Frances McGuirt Sheffield, father-in-law, J. N. Allen and mother-in-law, Beatrice Turner Allen and brother-in-law, Dale Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Allen Sheffield, Leesburg, GA, sons, Derrick Sheffield (Roxy), Blackshear, GA, Jeremy Sheffield (Jaylan), Carrollton, GA, brother, Scott Sheffield (Tina), Rome, GA, brother-in-law, Randy Allen, Albany, GA, grandchildren, Daxston Sheffield, Ramsey Jae Sheffield, Auden Sheffield, Hardin Sheffield and a fur baby, Rusty.
