James (Jimmy) Mark Shipley, born January 13, 1958, of Pewee Valley, Kentucky, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 5, 2025.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Shipley and Elizabeth Ann Shipley of Anchorage, KY.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Tammy Blair Shipley; his children, Richard Schanen (Jen), Jason Schanen (Carrie), William D. Shipley, and Rachel Crume (Scott); his stepdaughters, Meagan Rose (Dan) and Blair Murray (Keith); his grandchildren, Alexis, Aidan, Austin, Crosby and Lane; and his loving siblings, Mary Jane, William M. (Lynn), John R. (Pierrette), Richard R. (Angie), and Elinor; and his Maternal Aunt Ruth McClure Tout and Uncle Frank Tout of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jimmy was the absolute best father, ever supporting and proud of his children. Jimmy never met a stranger, and he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had a passion for remodeling, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t figure out and fix.
At the time of his death, Jimmy was the Quarry Superintendent at Quality Stone, where he had worked for 40 years. His work family meant so much to him, and he absolutely cherished his time at Quality Stone.
Jimmy will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23, from 2–5 PM, with the service beginning at 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heel Dog, Heal program via the Norton Healthcare Foundation.
