Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Short North ChapelJames Edward Smiley was born in Columbus, Ohio, March 20, 1943 and passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. He graduated from West High School in 1960. On August 10, 1963, he married the love of his life Judy Ferrero, and they were married for 62 years.
Jim loved to travel, discovering Hilton Head with Judy in the early 70’s. He planned other vacations with Judy, including Europe, the Caribbean, and many other destinations. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, horse races and was an avid Ohio State fan. He went to many Ohio State football games but his biggest love was Ohio State basketball, holding season tickets for many years.
Jim received his pharmacy degree from The Ohio State University at the age of 19 years old and was top in his class. He worked for Hilliard Pharmacy for many years before moving on to and retiring from Kroger Pharmacy.
He is survived by 2 children John (Cyndi), Jill Lynch (Jeff), his grand children Nicole Sattler (Ben), Katlyn Martin (Noah), Stephanie Smiley (Braedon), Shannon Lynch (Caleb) and great grandchildren Andrew and Katrina.
Please join us for a celebration of life Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 12-1:45 pm calling hours with service following 1:45pm at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home 4341 North High Street Columbus, Ohio 43214.
