James E. "Jimmy" Smith Obituary
James E. "Jimmy" Smith, of Kearny, Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 13, 2024. He was 78 years old.
The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029 on Tuesday, June 18th at 10:45am. Friends and relatives of Jimmy may visit on Tuesday morning from 10:00am until 10:45am. His Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, James lived in Irvington, NJ for many years before moving to Kearny 20 years ago. He graduated from Irvington High School in 1963 and later graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He currently worked as a Substitute Teacher for the Hackensack Board of Education District for prior to working as a Substitute Teacher for the Dover, NJ School District.
He is survived by his loving sister, Eileen Szostek, beloved nieces, Jacqueline and Mary Szostek, and cherished grandnieces and grandnephew, Christopher and Kayla Szostek and Desaree and Amiyah Burgman. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph and Donna Jean Smith, Ann Shirley Walsh and Margaret Lynch.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the VA (va.gov) in care of the funeral home in loving memory of Jimmy.
