James Ray "Jim" Smith, 76, of Stamford passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025 in Haskell, Texas. Visitation will be held May 31, at 1:00 p.m. in the Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home.
Jim was born March 13, 1949, in Swifton, Arkansas to Edward and May Herron Smith. He married Ada Louise Kinder in 1970 in Swifton, Arkansas. They moved to Stamford in 1980. She preceded him in death February 10, 2008. Jim worked as a mechanic most of his life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends and restoring old cars. He achieved his pilot's license and enjoyed flying. Later in life he drove a truck for Synergy and later for Bill Lackey.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two Brothers; Eddie Smith and Donald Smith and one sister; Betty Ann Whiteside.
He is lovingly survived by daughters, Misty Edwards and Glynn of Stamford and Beverly Bellville and Ethan of Sidney, Montana. Grandchildren; Jamie Smith of Sidney, Montana, Quinton Adkins of Amarillo, Texas, Kindra Adkins of Stamford, Texas, Nathan Edwards and wife Shawnna of Abilene, Texas, Blake Edwards of Paint Creek, Texas, Sara Harper and Ethan of Waxahachie, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren and special friend Stacy Harris of Haskell.
