James Smith, 71, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025, at his home. He was born in Henderson, KY, to the late Herman E. Smith, Sr. and Grace Sweatt Smith on March 12, 1954.
James was educated in the Henderson School System and attended Henderson City High. He worked for Seitz Denim in Henderson for several years. He loved cars and enjoyed detailing them for his friends and family.
James accepted Christ at an early age at Norris Chapel Baptist Church in Henderson, where he attended with his family. After moving to Evansville, he joined the Liberty Baptist church.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Smith and Ronald Smith; sister, Diane Straight.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Khalil Turner; 2 grandchildren; siblings, Roger Smith, Herman Smith, William Smith, Wanda Smith, Deborah Bushrod, Bruce Smith (Angie), Brian Smith, Asa Timothy Smith (Sylvia), Mary Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
