Bell Tower Funeral Home & Crematory - Post FallsIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Robert, who left us on September 5th, 2025, at the age of 69. Jim was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, residing in Post Falls, Idaho, where he shared a loving life with his beloved wife, Alice E. Smith, whom he married on March 7th, 1983.
Born on August 12th, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jim was the son of Gordon and Delores Smith. He embraced a life full of adventure and service, having trained as an air traffic control officer in the Marines after joining in the early 1970s. His commitment to service continued as he became an integral part of the search and rescue team for Kootenai County, helping those in need with unwavering dedication.
A proud alumnus of North Idaho College, Jim spent many years working in the industrial field as a general foreman for TIC, traveling across the country and gaining the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His strong work ethic was matched only by his passion for life outside of work.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding joy in nature's quiet beauty, whether it be wandering through the Arizona desert or mushroom picking in the Idaho mountains. His love for the outdoors was complemented by his appreciation for music, especially classic rock, which filled his home with joy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice, and his children: Shawn Smith, Amber Smith, Ocean Smith, Brandon Smith, Joshua Smith, and Jacob Smith. Jim’s legacy also lives on through his eight grandchildren, whom he adored deeply.
He is survived by his siblings, Mike, Diane, Larry, Tommy, Jerry, Kathy, and Leanne. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy.
Jim was not just a husband and father; he was a friend to all in the community, warmly remembered by his neighbors for his kindness, support, and infectious spirit. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and well-loved.
In honoring Jim's life, we celebrate the many joyful moments shared and the enduring love that remains in our hearts.
