James T. Sousa

James T Sousa Sr. passed away on Sunday March 8 2026 at Hartford Hospital. James was 85

years old born September 4, 1940, the son of John and Irene (Martin) Sousa. He was

predeceased by his former spouse Patricia E Sousa.

Pop's as he was affectionally known was survived by his daughter Angela (John) Kinney of Mystic, CT, son James (Denise) Sousa Jr of Groton CT and son Scott (Tracie) Sousa of Uncasville CT. He also had three grandchildren

Cameron Sousa, Brandon Lyon, Kayla Duprey and a great grandson Tucker Krepcio.

James was part of a very large family with many siblings, nieces and nephews which whom he loved.

James was retired after 35 years from Pfizer in Groton, Ct where he was a valued employee in

the yard maintenance department operating heavy equipment and laboring. James was an avid

car and auto racing enthusiast that hardly ever missed a race. He shared his love of auto racing

with is family and was the patriarch of our family race team which his support was unparalleled,

doing whatever it took to be competitive.

James was a big dog lover leaving behind Enzo, Elle, and Sophia.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11 AM in Jordan Cemetery.
