James G. Spencer was born on November 24, 1955 in Engelhard, NC to the late Betty Jean Spencer and late Grantful Spencer. James completed his educational studies in New York and graduated from Boys High school. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. In 1972 he met the girl of his dreams Denise Chatman. They were married on September 21, 1977 and were blessed with 3 children. James joined the United States Army in 1978 where he served in Germany; Panama; Ft. Bragg, NC and Ft. Lewis, WA.

James loved to eat, watch comedy movies, westerns, and most all SpongeBob Square Pants. He loved all sports especially the New York Knicks basketball team, he listened to their podcasts all the time and even joined in the conversations a true NY fan. Loved to dance and was very good at cooking, loved getting recipes from YouTube. James loved to have fun always kept a smile on his face, always had a joke to tell. His family always came first definitely a hands on dad. Loved to do home improvements, turned our house into a loving home. James loved Jesus, stayed in the word and lived by the word, he kept the faith always believing and trusting God's plan for him.

James is preceded in death by his loving mother Betty Jean Spencer and father Grantful Spencer.

James love and memories will remain in the hearts of his wife Denise Spencer of Lacey, WA. Son Jashon Spencer of Lacey, WA. Daughter Deronda Spencer of Killeen, TX. Daughter Erika Neveu (Dez) of Lacey, WA. Granddaughter Taniyah Spencer of Philadelphia, PA. Granddaughter Armani Spencer of Georgetown, TX. Grandson Jashon JJ Spencer of Lacey, WA. Grandson Lincoln Neveu of Lacey WA. James held a special bond with his siblings Picola Spencer (Brooklyn, NY); Esta Pearl Spencer (Scranton, NC); Ronald Joseph (Tanya) Spencer of Brooklyn, NY; and Tony Anthony (Theresa) Spencer of Brooklyn, NY.

A host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts uncles and friends.
