James Francis "Poppo" St. Clair, age 96, of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025.
Born October 24, 1928—though he celebrated it on October 20th—James was known for his quick wit, strong will, and the kind of work ethic that never quit. He inspired his family by showing up, pushing through, and always managing to make people laugh when they needed it most.
He is survived by his four children—Richard, Kenneth, Teresa, and Kimberly—and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his son David. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and extended family and friends who will carry his memory forward with deep love and devotion.
A longtime builder of stock cars and a lifelong lover of speed, we like to think he’s out there somewhere—racing again. No pit stops. No limits. And finally, peace in the great squirrel war. He is reunited now with his beloved wife, Darlene, whose memory he cherished every day.
Services will be held on June 16, 2025 at 11 AM at Sierra View Funeral Chapel (6201 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael), with graveside services following at Fair Oaks Cemetery (7780 Olive St, Fair Oaks), and a celebration of life at the Community Club House (5750 Grant Ave Carmichael) by the tennis courts, with the main parking lot. . All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
