James Kenneth "Jimmy" Staples, 33, of Lawrence, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family and friends after a courageous seven year battle with cancer. Born in Winchester in 1992, he was the beloved son of Maria Victoria (Joven) Staples and the late John Edward Staples.
Jimmy was the loving and protective husband of Britney (Bosse) Staples, with whom he shared 1.5 years of marriage and seven years of unwavering partnership. Together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and deep companionship, and Jimmy took immense pride in being the cherished cat dad to Brady. He was the amazing brother of Ben Bayhon and his fiancé Terry Ke, David Bayhon and his girlfriend Mary, and Raymond Staples. Jimmy was adored by his mother in law Michelle DesRoches and his father in law Michael Bosse. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends, especially his best friend and caregiver, Michael Vitulli, whose steadfast presence brought Jimmy comfort and strength.
A proud Navy veteran, Jimmy, carried his sense of duty, leadership, and integrity into every part of his life. He coached varsity girls and boys basketball, with his good friend Ryan Middlemiss, where he became a mentor to countless young athletes, known for his patience, encouragement, and ability to bring out the best in everyone he met.
Jimmy had a gift for connection, he was a friend to all, the life of every gathering, and the center of attention in the most joyful, magnetic way. Jimmy saw the good in every single person and every situation. Jimmy loved all New England sports, especially the Boston Celtics, and could often be found cheering passionately for his favorite teams.
He found joy in music, dancing, and karaoke, and he and Britney shared a love for traveling, hiking, and spending time at the beach. Thoughtful and wise beyond his years, Jimmy was an old soul with a natural ability to lead, uplift, and care for others.
His volunteer work at the Tenney Street Community Program reflected his deep commitment to service and community. Family was the heart of Jimmy's world. He approached every relationship with generosity, humor, and sincerity, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
His courage, warmth, and boundless spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Jimmy's legacy is one of love, resilience, and connection, a life lived fully, joyfully, and with purpose.
