James Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lehman Funeral Home - Portland on Jan. 7, 2026.
James Stanley Stevens, of Eagle, formally of the St. Johns/Maple Rapids area, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on December 22, 1937, in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of Dale and Ila (Worrall) Stevens. He was a graduate of St. Johns High School, class of 1957, and carried with him the values of hard work and determination throughout his life.

Jim spent many years working as a trim carpenter, employed by Joe Mesh and Sons Builders and the Maple Rapids Lumber Mill. Skilled with his hands and generous with his time, he was known as "Mr. Fix-It," whether he was woodworking, repairing homes, or fixing cars. Jim loved listening to country music and sharing a good laugh with his family and friends. In September of 2006, Jim married Geraldine Dalrymple, this completed his life and they enjoyed almost 20 years of marriage together.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents, Dale and Ila Stevens and his daughter, Rebecca Sue Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Stevens; children, Polly Anne Stevens, and William James "Bill" (Karen) Stevens; grandchildren, Rhiannona Eyer and Rick Eyer; and sister, Patricia Munger.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Beckett at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2026, at Beginning in Grace Church, 200 E. River Street, Grand Ledge. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Private interment will be in Union Home Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or Beginning in Grace Church in honor of Jim. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
