James Stout Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford Family Funeral & Cremation Service - Edmond on Dec. 3, 2025.
James Ray Stout (Jim) went to be with his Lord at age 79 on November 30, 2025. He died in his home in Edmond while being cared for by his family and Hospice.
Jim was born on April 10, 1946 to Gaines and Marie (Ray) Stout in OKC, along with his siblings Hal, Hala and Rod Stout. Jim was a member of the Choctaw Nation Tribe. He graduated from Classen High School and Oklahoma University with a Bachelors and Juris Doctorate in Law. Jim practiced law in Yukon, OK for 48 years. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 4 years.
He was in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity while attending OU, fondly known as the "The Hell Raiser!" At OU he met the love of his life, Diane, and they married on January 25, 1969. Life changed drastically in 1980 when Jim and Diane adopted Mark,6, and David 18 months, making them an instant family which seemed like they had always been together.
While teaching Sunda School at First Christian Church in Yukon, he put God's Word into practice when he organized and named the Manna Pantry to help homeless people with food. The Manna Pantry has grown tremendously and now serves people in all Canadian County.
Jim had a funny bone, demonstrated by being a puppeteer. He cracked everybody up as he performed for children at church. Later, he became the puppet, Mr. Know-It, for Diane's reading curricular program.
Jim volunteered HHBC's Ministries of Jesus (MOJ) for 22 years by entering data into the computer. He was a long-time member of the Pyramid Club, meeting for breakfast every Friday morning. As a Webelo leader, Jim took the boys to his "Funny Farm" for roaming and discovering.
Jim had the pleasure of being able to the officiant for his son, David and Liz's wedding. In 2023, Jim and Diane's household sprang to life when their granddaughter, Sarah, came to live with them while attending UCO. Jim doted over Sarah, nicknaming her Rabbit, evolving into Wabbit and Wabs. Their grandson, Caden, became known as Peanut.
Jim is survived by his wife Diane Stout, sons; Mark Stout; David and Liz Stout; sister, Hala Rogers; grandchildren; Sarah Stout and Caden Lynch-Stout, many beloved nieces, nephews and many close friends. He is preceded in death by parents; Gaines and Marie Stout; brothers Hal Stout and Rodney Stout.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Henderson Hills Baptist Church.
Donations may be made to Manna Pantry, 620 N. Cemetery RD, Building 2, Yukon, OK 73099.
