James Everett Strauch, 82, of Greeley, formerly of Mead, passed away September 23, 2024 at Grace Pointe after a brief illness. He was born December 31, 1941 in East Chicago, Indiana to Ernest Everett and Amelia Rosena (Fickert) Strauch.
He grew up in Illinois, graduating high school at Bethany, Illinois in 1959. He joined the U.S. Army in 1961, spending one year in South Korea. After returning from Korea, he finished out his service at Fort Carson, Colorado. Jim received an Honorable Discharge in 1964.
He stayed in Colorado, where he met his wife, Jacqueline "Jacquie" Shapard in 1965. They were married in 1966.
Jim was hired by IBM in 1965 and spent 25 years with them before taking an early retirement. He was then hired by Lexmark International and spent 15 years with them before retiring in 2005.
He enjoyed gardening and restoring farm equipment.
Jim is survived by his son, Greg (Leann) Strauch and their two children; Ellyann and Dalton as well as two granddaughters, Rebecca and Rachel Kennedy of Dallas, TX, his sister-in-law, Pat Fuller of Johnstown, numerous nieces, nephews, stepsisters-in-law and their families.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jacquie and his daughter, Debora Jean Kennedy.
Jim's Life Celebration will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Adamson with a reception following. Interment 1:00 PM at Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley with military honors. Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com.
