James Strople Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cabot & Sons Funeral Home on Dec. 8, 2025.
A Celebration of the life of Jay Strople
James Daniel "Jay" Strople was born on April 29, 1960. He was the fifth child of Daniel and Irene Strople was born on April 29,1960. He grew up with his family in San Gabriel, California, and was especially close to his maternal grandfather William Kemble. Jay had a wonderful childhood and fondly remembered yearly camping trips to Yosemite. His love of National Parks was shared with his wife and children on trips to Yellowstone, Sequoia National Park, Canyonlands, Zion, Bryce, the Grand Canyon, and most recently Mt. Rushmore.
Jay always loved to "tinker," having started on tricycles at a young age and working his way up to automobiles after working diligently to build up his own carefully curated collection. He enjoyed working with his hands, was a Mold-Maker and Glazer, having also worked briefly in the family insurance business before becoming a small business owner and sole proprietor of Duarte Glass for over 30 years.
Despite being a very private man of few words, Jay enjoyed helping others and telling stories to anyone he trusted enough to listen. Life's simple pleasures were enough to make Jay feel at his richest, as nothing beat his annual trip up the coast and enjoying a beautiful sunset and a great steak at Jocko's in Nipomo, California.
Jay passed away at home on November 21, 2025, and is survived by his wife of 41 years Jill Marie, as well as his children Jacqueline Marie (Daughter), Ian Smith (Son-in-Law), and Jamieson Daniel (Son).
Graveside service for family and friends will take place on Thursday, December 11 at noon at Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Avenue, Bloomington, CA 92316.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
