James Ulysess Summitt, 75, of Sweetwater, formerly of Madisonville, passed away Friday morning, September 12, 2025 at Sweetwater Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and formerly worked at Tennessee Packaging. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy Houston Summitt and Minona Clemmer Summitt; sister, Sue Henry; brothers, Bobby Summitt, Franklin Dee Summitt, Rev. Roy Summitt, Charlie Summitt, Joe Summitt, Kenneth Summitt; son-in-law, James Range. Survivors: daughter, Michelle Summitt Range; sisters, Wanda Lovingood, Bonnie Brannon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral 7:00 P.M. Monday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Tommy Self, Rev. David Summitt officiating. Interment 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery with military honors provided by V.F.W. Gold Star Post 5156, American Legion Post 240 and the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Monday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
