On September 17, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family, James A. Tackett, Jr. went home to be with the Lord. He was 86.
Mr. Tackett was born in Dorsey, Maryland on June 28, 1939, to the late James and Evelyn Tackett.
He graduated from Arundel High School in 1959.
After high school Jim started work at Baltimore Aircoil, which brought him to Milford in 1990 as Plant Superintendent.
He was a member of the Shawnee Country Club and enjoyed golf, cutting grass, and playing pool.
Mr. Tackett is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Clara Tackett. He is also survived by his daughters, Teresa Hoffman and her husband Mark, Terri Bailer and her husband Tim, and Tina Saylor and her husband Gary, his sons, Chris Layton and Michael Layton, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with 1 on the way, and his sisters, Sylvia Glant and Ada Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Tackett, his daughter, Diana Scarmazzi, and his brothers, Ray Tackett and Walter Tackett.
The family will receive visitors at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home from 2PM to 4PM on Tuesday 9/23 with a funeral service at 4PM.
On Thursday 9/25 a visitation will be held at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075, from 12PM to 1PM with a funeral service at 2PM.
Interment is Meadowridge Memorial Park.
