James Ronald Talley, 90, of Oxford, North Carolina passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his home. Born in Granville County he was the son of the late William Gray Talley and Sadie Thrift Talley.
Mr. Talley was in the grocery business and worked for Colonial stores for 36 years, then opened his own convenience store, “Talley’s Convenient Mart“. He was a big part of the community helping people whenever they needed it. Ronnie had a passion for cars and loved to tell you about them. Besides his family his favorite things were his two red trucks. After retirement he loved watching old westerns while sitting in the recliner and talking about the good old days.
Ronnie was a US Army veteran.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 18 at 2 p.m. at Delrayno Baptist Church. Reverend Joe Don Cooper will be conducting the service. Also speaking will be this nephew Bobby Talley Jr. Burial will follow in the Meadowview Memorial Park.
Surviving are his son, Ronald Mark Talley and wife Lisa, daughter Dusty Talley Harris and husband Richie, grandchildren Hannah Soto and husband Jesse, Nolan Talley and wife Emily, and Zach Harris and fiancé Brooklyn, great grandchildren, Brayden, Cameron and Holden Soto.
Along with his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife, Ernestine Culbreth Talley, two sisters, Francis Talley Rhoden and Jean Talley Corbett, four brothers William Gray Talley Jr., Granville Hartwell Talley, George Edgar Talley and Bobby Earl Talley Sr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the parlor of Delrayno Baptist Church all other times they will be at the home. Pallbearers will be Richie Harris, Zach Harris, Bobby Earl Talley, Trey Talley, Nolan Talley, O’Neill Chavis and Brayden Soto.
Gentry, Newell and Vaughan is assisting the family.
