James Tellone Obituary

Since he was a little boy in Chicago, Jimmy's life was full of adventure; traveling to Florida or Tennessee to spend the summers with family or friends. When he was old enough, he enlisted in the Illinois National Guard and was assigned to an MP unit for three years. He then became an apprentice plasterer, and in 1959, his dream of being a Police Officer was fulfilled when he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff for the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, where he would spend the next 39 years. Jimmy started as a Patrolman, and advanced to Detective Warrants Div., Detective Sergeant Violent Crimes/Narcotics Div., and Lieutenant/Watch Commander Patrol Division. He was a member of the Anti-Sniper Team, and instrumental in forming the new Explosives and Hazardous Device Unit, as their Supervisor and Bomb Technician. During his career, Jimmy experienced the many excitements, joys, long nights, and tragedies that came with the job. His dedication to the people in his personal and professional life will never be forgotten; and his love, kindness and generosity will be remembered by all those who knew him.
Visitation Friday, November 18, 2022, from 3:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Steuerle Chapel, 350 S. Ardmore Ave Villa Park, Illinois. Funeral Saturday, November 19, 2022,

It is difficult to describe a person's life in a few words, and by no means could a brief paragraph describe the sum total of
one's life. Cousin Jimmy had a good heart. We had great backyard picnics and family get togethers. He was dedicated to law enforcement and helping others. Often putting his own life at risk, he remained generous and respected. He was a good man and will be missed.

May I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Tellone family. Jimmy was a dear friend who was there if ever needed. Fun to be with and great to work with. And oh how he loved his family! He will be a cherished memory of mine. Rest In Peace my friend.
