James C. Terrell, 73 of Hurdle Mills, NC, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 6, 2026 surrounded by his family.
James was born on February 14, 1953, the son of the late Vernell and Elizabeth Terrell, in Durham, NC. James spent spent most of his life doing carpentry work in this area. There was no job too big or too small. James enjoyed being on the water. He loved taking his Jon boat out on the lake and spending the day fishing.On May 10, 1986 he married the love of his life, Pamela Medlin Terrell. James cared for her throughout her cancer journey. He will be remembered for his humor, making time to give advice, fixing anything broken and caring for his two furbabies, Smokey and Worm.
James is survived by his sons: Philip (Ginger) Ezell, Sr. of Timberlake, NC, Robert (Tracey) Ezell of Hillsborough, NC, James Ezell of Goldsboro, NC and Chris (Nicky) Melton of Hillsborough, NC; daughter, Danielle (John) Rogers; grandchildren: Alexis Ezell, Quentin (Leighton) Mascari, Ashlyn (Steven) Uselton, Daniel (Anna) Chapman, Corey Cates, Haley (Nate) Ezell, Valerie Ezell, Rachel Ezell, Johnny Rogers, Jonah Melton and Mason Melton; great-grandchildren: Devon, Sj, Knoxx, Aubrey, Paisley and Emersyn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson, PJ Ezell; sister, Patricia Ann Terrell; brothers: Larry Terrell, Eugene Terrell and Mark Terrell; and his cousin and best friend, Geryl Terrell.
The family would like to thank everyone who came to visit James at home and in the hospital. The family especially wants to thank UNC Hillsborough CCU Staff, UNC Family Medicine Team, UNC Palliative Care and UNC Inpatient Hospice.
A Graveside Service for James will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Hillsborough Town Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough, NC.
In lieu of flowers please make donatins to UNC Hospice or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
