James William “Jimmy” Terry, 82, passed away on January 4, 2026, at Adorable Senior Living, where he was cared for with compassion. He was born on September 11, 1943, in Newport News, Virginia to the late William and Mildred Terry.

With a career spanning over 40 years, Jimmy worked as a logistics manager in the aluminum manufacturing industry, where his commitment and expertise were deeply valued by his colleagues.

In addition to his professional life, James served honorably in the Army National Guard, demonstrating a strong sense of duty and service to his country. His interests were varied and vibrant; he had a love for working on classic cars in his youth, an enthusiasm for dogs, and a particular admiration for NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He found joy in outdoor adventures, often taking camping trips, and possessed an impressive skill set that allowed him to fix or assemble anything that needed repair.

Jimmy is survived by his son, James William “Jamie” Terry, Jr.; his daughter, Julie Terry Craven, and her husband, Holt; the mother of his children, Jondeen Terry; his brother, Mike Terry; and his beloved canine companion, Katie. He was predeceased by his parents, William O. and Mildred Long Terry.

A graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Burlington Animal Services; 221 Stone Quarry Rd, Burlington, NC 27217.

Elder abuse can take many forms. If you or a senior loved one is being financially, mentally, or physically abused, please contact the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services CARE line at 1-800-662-7030.
