Lars Thune, 67, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and formerly of Fairfax, VA, passed away June 10, 2025.

Lars was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. His love for beer and Hungarian sausage, black Labradors, and convertible cars reflected his joyful spirit and brought people together throughout his life.

An avid skier, Lars was a dedicated 25-year member of the National Ski Patrol in Canaan Valley, WV, where he taught his kids, friends and their children how to ski. He also loved playing tennis, hiking, and relaxing on the beach with a beer in hand.

Lars will be deeply missed for his fun-loving spirit and his distinctive sense of humor, which never failed to leave a lasting impression.

Lars was born on December 15, 1957, in Denville, NJ and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1976. He received his bachelor's degree from James Madison University. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Betsy Thune and brother, Eric Thune. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maureen Thune and sister, Alison (Bruce) Cunard and his beloved children, Crystal (Mike) Kelch, Larson, Samantha (Dylan) Duvall, Ryan and Erica and grandchildren Skylar and Zoey Kelch and many lifelong friends.

A celebration of life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
