James Martin Tibus

James M. Tibus, 85, of Lake Hopatcong, passed away on February 11, 2026.

Born on January 30, 1941, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nona M. Tibus (October 6, 1941 – April 1, 2019), with whom he shared many years of marriage and

family life.

Jim was father to Tami Delefave; Christian Tibus and his spouse, Ivelys Santos; and Kara Herbertz and her spouse, Torsten Herbertz. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Dominique Delefave, Gabriel Herbertz, Elias Herbertz, Marlena Herbertz, and Olivia Tibus.

An avid do-it-yourselfer, Jim was rarely without a home project. He enjoyed working with wood and built many special pieces over the years for his children and grandchildren. Creations that will continue to serve as lasting reminders of his love. He was also a golf enthusiast who found great enjoyment on the course throughout his life.

Jim will be remembered for his personable nature and his sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes; Dad jokes, riddles, and stories that made others laugh. His warmth and lighthearted spirit left an impression on all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. All arrangements are private by Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph.
