James Tichelaar, age 86 of Taunton, passed away on February 19, 2026 at Morton Hospital.
He was the son of the late Frans and Grietje (Medemer) Tichelaar.
James (Pop) was a lovable curmudgeon who enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking drives in his van. He was a talented carpenter who admired people that lived off the land. He never met a stranger and very often his friendships felt more like extended family. Pop will be missed by all of us.
James is survived by his loving children; Barbara Robertson and husband Ed, James Tichelaar, Stacey Tichelaar, grandchildren; Scott Robertson, Jeffrey Robertson, Nicholas Robertson, brother; Gerrit Tichelaar and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frans Tichelaar, Louise Wenner and Greta Smith.
Services will be held privately.
